Another rumor involving the Atlanta Hawks involves moves that could possibly be made in the upcoming draft. ESPN insiders have thrown out scenarios where the Atlanta Hawks could offer to trade Al Horford to the Charlotte Bobcats for their second overall pick. The same rumor would have the Hawks drafting Thomas Robinson with the pick obtained for the Bobcats. The thinking there would be to acquire a low post scoring presence anticipating having to move Josh Smith before the trade deadline next season. If that were an option for the Hawks(BIG IF!) , I would hope that they would not rule out looking at other low post talents like an Andre Drummond (UConn) and others.
Also, according to Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta Hawks would also like to retain as much of their veteran assembled bench as possible. The guys that came off of the bench for Atlanta felt as if they had an identity with the team and developed a respectful relationship with the rest of the team. It only seems logical for the Hawks to want to return most of those guys with the salary cap struggles that they will be facing but most of those guys are going to be unrestricted free agents and would probably like to test the waters before committing back to the Hawks.
