The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Miami Heat 101-92. The loss came primarily to the fact that the Miami Heat shot 58.2 percent from the field against Atlanta (the first team to shoot over 50 percent in a game against the Hawks). When the Miami Heat played the way that they did against the Hawks this past game, they are impossible to beat.

Atlanta displayed good ball movement in the first quarter as they ran the offense through Josh Smith. The Hawks attacked the basket and when the shot wasn't there they kicked it out to hit the open three pointer. In the second quarter, the Hawks continued to go back and forth with the Heat. As Atlanta remained physical and aggressive they went into halftime down two points, 56-54.

The third quarter started out well for the Hawks, with a Jeff Teague steal and an Al Horford dunk, it appeared that Atlanta was ready to go the distance with Miami. All of that changed when the Miami Heat went on a 14-2 run, led by Dwyane Wade that put the Heat up by ten and Atlanta never seemed to be able to get any closer than about six points. From there, the Hawks seemed to be overwhelmed as they began to turn the ball over (leading to some easy transition points for the Heat) and settle for jump shots.

This was a statement game for the Miami Heat, as they have said that they have noticed Atlanta's position in the East as well as how well they have been playing. So with that extra focus, Wade shot 11 for 13 from the field to score his 26 points and LeBron James went 10-16 from the floor to score his game high of 27 points. James also had seven rebounds and six assists to go with the points. Chris Bosh scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards and Norris Cole shot 4-4 from the floor to get his 10 points.

Atlanta was led by Josh Smith 22 points, while Al Horford did his best to carry the team with 20 points and 11 boards. DeShawn Stevenson had 12 points, while both Jeff Teague and Lou Williams added 11.

Up next for Atlanta is the final game of this three game road trip as Atlanta travels up to Orlando to take on the Magic.
